Founded by music producer Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee in February 1952, Sun Records was the first label to record Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. Prior to that, Sun Records had concentrated mainly on African-American musicians because Phillips loved rhythm and blues, and wanted to bring it to a wider, and more diverse audience. The music of many Sun Records musicians helped lay part of the foundation of late 20th-century rock and roll, and influenced many younger musicians, including the Beatles.

Coming straight from Arkansas in 1934, Charlie Rich grew to be a serious music student who developed a taste for jazz, and perfected his blues and jazz techniques on horn and piano while attending the University of Arkansas. Based on a demo tape sent to Sun Records studios, Rich was hired as a session musician. To become a solo performer for Sun Records, Rich had to loosen up his elegant jazzy sound, and start composing and singing in the Jerry Lee Lewis vein. The outcome of this note led to Rich writing a hit for Lewis, “I’ll Make It All Up to You” and performing his only chart topping single, “Lonely Weekends.” To this day, Rich remains a favorite in the country music genre, despite his penchant for jazz and the blues.

This soft hoodie features a generous fit, jersey lined hood, heavy gauge drawcord with metal eyelets and 1×1 ribbing at cuffs and waistband. Solid Colors are made from 80% cotton and 20% polyester, while Grey Heather is made from 75% cotton and 25% polyester blend. Care Instructions: Machine wash and tumble dry on low.
