If you think of early David Bowie, Hunky Dory (1971) initially comes to mind. This combination of art rock and art pop was an anthem for the early 70s, combining kitsch and class into a unique art form. Although early in his career, this is seen as one of his best albums of all time and also as what laid the foundation for his early career.

The album art was a portrait inspired by Marlene Dietrich, and features air brush work and Bowie’s typical early style. This complimented the major pop art movements of the time.
