Dubbed one of the most well-known concept albums of all time, Pink Floyd’s The Wall was a rock opera that explored social and emotional isolation as told through a fictional character, Pink. Imagined by bassist Roger Waters and inspired by his and former band-mate Syd Barrett’s life, it was an expression of years of touring and playing rock shows. It was also adapted into a musical drama film of the same name in 1982. The Wall remains a conceptual milestone in music with more than 24 million copies sold and an album so resonant that it continues to be studied and learned from to this day.
